Billy's Turn

Image
Inspired by this video A week, Billy thought glumly as he brushed the doll's hair. A week of dresses, frilly socks, hairbows, panties, being a girl! Well, today was the day their parents would pick them all up, so things would be back to normal. I'm still in a dress! This had all started what felt like a lifetime ago but was really only seven days. Billy had arrived at Grandma's for the annual visit. Him and his three cousins spent a week every summer there. For Billy, that meant spending the week trying to avoid getting pulled into his cousins' girly games. They always seemed to want to get him into a dress or tutu or something! This year, they succeeded. Under the pretense of helping him, they separated him from his suitcase the moment he arrived and brought him into the room with the enormous king size bed the three of them shared every year. He liked to think he put up a valiant fight, but whether he had or not, the result was undeniable: he ended up in a dress, fr...

The Baby Game: The Ringbearer

“What are you doing!?” Alex exclaimed, as shrill as any alarm clock. He pushed against Mark's bare chest, but the still half-asleep boy only chuckled and pulled him up to him. “Good morning to you too.” “There's a second bed. Get out!” Alex sputtered. “Get out!” “Oh come on, Baby Lexie! Don't you remember?” Mark smiled as Alex's curiosity won out over his anger. “Remember what?” “You had a bad dream.” Mark's voice was entirely sincere, even though it was a lie. “And asked me to sleep with you to keep the bad dreams away.” “I did not!” “Did too.” Mark chuckled. “And then you fell asleep and were talking in your sleep about how much you love being Baby Lexie, the silliest little boy.” “Get out of my bed!” “Fine.” Mark relented, letting Alex push him out of the bed. “Oof.” He landed on the floor. “Ha.” Alex said, retreating back to the center of the bed as Mark got to his feet. “Well,” Mark walked around the bed, pretending to go to the other, untouched bed. “It...

The Baby Game: Time Out

The wedding's tomorrow! Making it the perfect day requires a lot of practice and for everyone to focus “Run, Carson!” With a squeal the towheaded toddler took off running toward first base, nearly tripping over the ball that he had only just barely managed to knock off the tee. His oversized batting helmet threatened to fall down over his eyes with every wobbly step he took. Alex rolled his eyes. Carson finally getting a hit meant he was next. “Kiss for good luck?” Mark asked, holding Alex in place until he got his answer. “No, Bubba.” Alex muttered. Yet another piece of evidence that this was not a real sport was the players hung out with their family until it was their turn to play. “Suit yourself.” Mark smiled all the same. That worked just fine for him since it meant Alex would be going up to bat with caramel still all around his mouth from his mid-game snack. It felt almost like a tragedy as Alex pulled his batting helmet over his freshly cut hair. The wedding was next wee...

The Baby Game: The Secret

“You're really not gonna say good morning?” Mark asked as Alex tried to calm down from the scare that he had gotten: waking up in Mark's bed. “Good morning.” Alex grunted, knowing that Mark would not let it go until he said something. “Dad's making breakfast, so do you want to go down in your jammies or get dressed first?” Alex saw his overnight bag by the door. “Get dressed.” “Let’s work on full sentences, Baby Lexie.” Mark grabbed the boy and unzipped his pajamas. The red onesie had been a compromise and he hoped Alex did not ever work out how little they made him look. Somehow, he thought having bare feet instead of footies magically made him look mature. Now Mister Mature sat on his floor in nothing but a diaper. “We had a lot of fun playing the Baby Game last night, didn't we?” Alex curtly nodded. “You're really not a morning person, are you?” Mark kissed Alex's forehead before ripping off his diaper. He smiled as Alex hurried over to the dresser, hoping...
